COCONUT OIL PULLING

Healthy mouth, whiter teeth, happy gut!
Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are a type of fat that are digested quickly and known for their great energy and metabolism-boosting effects. And whilst it’s seriously good for you to eat and great to cook with, you can also use it on your skin. It makes a great moisturiser, can easily remove make-up and when used as a shaving cream will leave your skin feeling lovely and soft.
Coconut Oil has been shown to be antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, promote healthy thyroid function, blood sugar regulation, and help fight off yeast, candida, and fungus. But today’s topic is how it can be used to improve dental hygiene and promote whiter teeth.
The unique fatty acids found in coconut oil attract plaque and other harmful toxins so the oil gently removes them from the teeth and gums as you swish it around your mouth. This is said to detoxify the mouth and saliva glands, promote whiter, sparkling teeth and even prevent tooth decay.
When we hear the word ‘gut’ we’re inclined to think of our stomach. But the gut is actually the entire gastro-intestinal tract and it begins in the mouth. So keeping our mouths healthy and toxin free can only be good for the gut!
What do you need?
1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
Method:
Coconut oil has a pretty high melting temperature, so you can either pop it straight in when it’s hard and swish until it’s liquid, or if you’d rather not wait then gently melt it first. Microwave works well, but make sure it not too hot before putting it in your mouth!
Swish the coconut oil around inside your mouth for 10-20 minutes and then spit it out. Do this once a day. Continue with your normal brushing and flossing routine.
Easy!
